The electromagnetic flow meter is composed of a SENSOR to be mounted on the pipe through which the liquid flows (instead, the insertion model must be installed in a direction perpendicular to the pipe); and an electronic CONVERTER to be mounted directly on the sensor ("compact" version), or placed nearby ("separate" version).
The internal pipe of the sensor is coated with an electrical insulating material, to be selected according to the chemical nature and maximum temperature of the liquid.
The diameter of the sensor is chosen according to the maximum flowrate and velocity of the liquid. The maximum accuracy (±0,2% of the assessed reading) will be reached through the diameter which gives a velocity of at least 2 m/s at the maximum flow.
Several models of converters are available. Almost all of them are provided with a display for the local indication of the parameters (flow, volume, liquid direction, alarms, etc.). The converter generates also the electrical signals for the remote transmission of these values. |
